I am part of an effort with all these amazing bloggers listed below to highlight our “best” post from this past year. The result is an enormous amount of creativity and knowledge to offer readers. So, with that, I present my “best” post of the year, which was not only my most popular but also my favorite, near and dear to my heart.
The post was the result of attending quite honestly a life changing presentation on Communication with Young Children at the American Montessori Society’s conference last year in San Francisco. Virginia Vargas is a veteran and was a pioneer in cultivating a place for Montessori in America. Her wisdom comes through brilliance but also through experience. She imparted her wisdom to her audience in an entertaining and thoughtful manner. The presentation highlighted “Magic Words” to help guide us parents and educators to better responding to and communicating with toddlers and preschoolers. She helped us understand the importance of knowing and understanding at what point a child is in his development, that knowing this point and shaping the way we communicate (whether with words or not) with children has a profound impact on a child, a class, a family, a community and ultimately a society. The original post on Toddler & Preschooler Communication is linked up below.
