MBA Mama Series: 10 Ways to Make a Mom Smile

SHARE THIS POST:

Yesterday our 3 year old asked me, “Mom, are you happy?”

Most likely in reference to an earlier episode involving our 17 month old, a glass of milk, several rags, a Swiffer and a lot of toddler boy giggles.

I said to him, “Sweetie, yes, I am happy. It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy, you know.”

Then the thought occurred to me, it REALLY doesn’t take much. So I started thinking about all those things and had to share with you. I am guessing you can relate for a laugh but also as a gentle reminder:

10 Ways to Make a Mom Smile

  1. A Shower
  2. Clean Clothes (for the whole family)
  3. A Child sleeping through the night in his own bed {Okay, this one is almost as much a panic as it is a joy for us parents = at 3am, you ask your SO, “Is he all right? Should we be worried?”}
  4. When my boys eat a piece of meat it is as though the world has added shades of yellow and the soundtrack of my life includes songs like the Beatle’s “Here Comes the Sun” and Hall & Oates “You Make My Dreams”
  5. Bathroom sans children hanging from legs, climbing tub, slapping {my} thighs while giggling and saying things like, “look at your leg jiggle, mama!”
  6. Skipping a day at the Starbucks drive through and instead having a few moments to quietly sip tea or coffee curled up on the couch
  7. 5 minutes with my SO
  8. Our 17 month old choosing to close the toilet lid rather than put his hands in it
  9. Hearing the words, “thank you”, “excuse me” and “please” MELT my heart
  10. A field. My boys. The sunshine. Lots and lots of giggles. (Now THAT one is a lot to ask for in Seattle!)

Thank you for choosing to read this post. I hope we made you giggle. What makes you smile? Please leave a comment. I LOVE to hear from you.
