Yes, that sounds dramatic, I know, but learning a bit about child development and how to respond to and listen to your child is hard work and takes a lot of practice. Shockingly, being positive doesn’t come naturally to most of us, so looking at every challenging moment of your day as an opportunity to practice your positive discipline techniques is key.
Jane Nelson is an expert in this field. Dr. Montessori would be proud of her work. She allows parents to discipline without shutting a child down so that the child can learn vital emotional and social skills in communication and self-control.
Montessori from the Start: The Child at Home, from Birth to Age Three is another gem based on Dr. Montessori’s work on hands-on learning and self-discovery with infants. The book offers tangible ways to bring the method into your home. The book truly brings home the idea of creating a holistic Montessori environment. This Montessori book covers bedroom layout, materials, clothing, movement, and even diet.
Understanding the Human Being: Importance of the First Three Years of Life is a must-have book for parents of an infant or a woman in pregnancy. A lovely book especially perfect for the first year of a baby’s life. Beginning in the womb, the book discusses topics such as language development and movement and gives practical advice for giving your baby a strong first year of life. Children are an amazing and wonderful gift to us parents. All too often in the stress and sleepless nights of being a new parent, we forget that fact.
