Here is a glimpse at what is new in our preschool homeschool learning space this month.

Preschool Homeschool

  1. Simple Introductory Pouring of Dry Goods Exercise for my 2 year old. The cups are mini Chinese tea cups. I filled them with small pasta.
  2. As I begin to introduce the concept of telling time, I introduced this work into our calendar time. Basically every day we transfer a cork from the left jar to the right jar. The left jar begins full with ten corks . The right jar begins empty. After ten days when the left jar is empty, we bundle the corks. This act is helpful to children to grasp the understanding that time has passed. You can do this exercise with stone, straws, crafts sticks, clothespins, etc.
  3. We continue our exploration of the Earth as a sphere and in map form. I brought out the 3 part cards to bring language into the work.
  4. Simple fine motor work within Practical Life: Cutting a Heart
  5. The tray is a transfer work for my 3.5 year old. There are pink and red “LOVE” erasers. He uses the tongs to transfer and sort the erasers.
  6. Once again, as I begin to introduce the concept of telling time, I introduced this work into our calendar time. Along with the weather, the season, the day, the date, the month and whatever other events take place within that time frame, we will note the phase of the moon. This ties into geography, history and practical life.

Two additional works include a preschool math activity on our felt board, matching a number with the number of hearts (L) and a very simple “Magnetic/Non-Magnetic” Basket (R). I hope to expand on the latter soon.
