Traveling with Kids {What to Bring}

We travel with our kids a lot. One of the many things I have learned about traveling with kids is to always take a few familiar, special items along for the ride. Stuck on You is this very cool company that offers personalized products across a variety of lines that will achieve this goal for your family. There tagline is “Label it. Own it. Keep it. Stuck on You – personalizing the whole wide world one name at a time.” If that doesn’t make your child feel special, what will? Here are a few examples of the Stuck on You items we carried with us on a recent road trip:

{Security} My boys like to be cozy and warm so we always bring their special blankets. This trip will be bringing along another item. Recently, my son received a cozy hooded child sized personalized bathrobe. He adores this robe and can’t wait to wrap himself in it when he hops out of the tub.

{Familiarity} We also like to include items that for one reason or another mean something special to them at that particular point in their development. So, for our 3. 5 year old, we carried a new personalized pencil case for kids equipped with an eraser and a sharpener with his name on it. We’re also carrying his very own “Creation Book”. We want him to be able to have some control over his rapid development. Does that make sense? For example, although driven to rite, he appears insecure about doing it. He becomes frustrated, not wanting to continue the work. Since he is in a sensitive period for reading and writing, spending some time in these areas is important.  Still, he lacks confidence with his writing.

So my thinking is that he will embrace the exercise and practice a bit more if he “owns” the activity.  I was right. This personalized pencil case has made him proud to work on his letter writing. He looks forward to writing. I attribute this change in his behavior to his special pencil case.  Along the same vein, his Creation Book contains blank pages for him to imagine a world of his own. There are no limits or boundaries to his work in this book. Literally, the book has opened up his world.

{Younger Sibling} Our 2 year old makes it a bit easier for us. Like many second children, he is the recipient of second hand clothes and toys (thanks to his brother). We recently received this adorable wooden name puzzle. My son adores putting the pieces of his name into the appropriate spot. This wooden puzzle is his to own and to love. The personalized wooden puzzle is incredibly lightweight. So I packed up the pieces into a storage bag and slipped the puzzle board into my suitcase ready for the road.

These products are part of a wonderful line of items that will surely make your child feel loved and special. They are well made and relatively inexpensive. I fell upon this company practically by accident. I am so happy that I did. I encourage each of you to check out their offerings here.

Comments

  1. Both my children have their ‘name puzzles’ which are not only a great educational tool but also look great in their bedrooms!

  2. I gotta say I love the name puzzles too…so unique and fun. The personalized lunchboxes and pencil cases are also attractive though!

  3. All of the clothing labels are adorable but i think my son would like the apron. He’s starting to spend more time in the kitchen with me and that personalized touch would be nice.

  4. I like the drink bottles!

  5. What sweet products, especially the personalized sketchbook. We can always use another sketchbook- we keep them everywhere! (smile)

  6. Several cool thing on the site…the new silicone mats look pretty nifty :-)
