We’ve been able to do so with a few tricks here and there.  I wrote about exploring Seattle with Kids a while back. This post gives you EVEN more Seattle Kid Friendly Activities. I’ve been determined to get out into nature every day, no matter the weather, go out and explore a park or something new in the Seattle area.

Seattle Kid Friendly Activities that Are Actually Fun

Volunteer Park – This park is the home of Seattle’s Asian Art Museum. The grounds are beautiful with intriguing climbing trees, lots of open space and a playground that is currently being renovated (= Excited).

REI – Generally REI is a lot of fun with kids. Explore the gear, the tents, the rock climbing wall and the kids treehouse on the second floor. The treehouse is next to a World Wrapps so you can grab a snack and a smoothie for the kids while they play.

Monorail – Not much rivals a ride on a public transportation vehicle. Seattle is fortunate because we have the monorail. Kids adore it. So hop on in the Armory at the Seattle Center and enjoy the ride watching your kids eyes open wide. Check out this awesome Seattle Monorail excursion with her child documented by a local blogger. Her son got a private tour!

Volunteer Park Conservatory – I love taking my sons here. For $4 you can explore plants from all over the world. Soak them in and watch your kids’ sense of awe and wonder of the natural world explode!

The Great Wheel – Check out the land forms and the working port that make Seattle so unique and beautiful. My boys were fascinated by the view and the movement of the wheel. Don’t worry about the weather, the Great Wheel offers very comfortable gondolas for your ride.

Burke Museum – We recently took a trip over to UW’s campus for a look at the Burke Museum of Natural History & Culture. There is a kids section that you can enter when there aren’t school groups using it. There is a new Plastics exhibit that is not only fascinating but offers a space for child to build and play with their imaginations. Standing exhibits include lots of hands on fossil exploration.

MOHAI – This Museum of History and Industry is a new one in Seattle. There are special times for families and children to attend the museum on Tuesdays and Saturdays but don’t limit yourself. Exposing children to innovation is quite a concept and will ignite their learning for a lifetime.

Ballard Locks – Nestled in a great part of town near Golden Gardens, a fabulous park on the Sound, the Locks are not to be missed. There is a lovely garden and plenty of very cool stuff to ignite kids’ learning.

Bainbridge Island – Take a short ferry ride to Bainbridge from downtown Seattle, eat in a quaint downtown, stop by Eagle Harbor Book Co.‘s wonderful kids section, and visit the island’s Kids Discovery Museum.
