March Activity – Large String Beading

This work is one of the most simple March activities for preschoolers. The beads in this image are from Spielgaben. I am not going to lie, these beads are beautiful. There are other great, far less expensive, options for young children like these Melissa & Doug Beads. A simple work that kids seem to love, large bead stringing spans a wide age range.

March Activities for Preschoolers – Green and Gold Pom Pom Transfer

Pompom Transfers are a wonderful Practical Life Work. It can be a simple hand transfer for the really little ones, or you can adjust the size of the pom poms and add tongs or tweezers to add a bit of fine motor difficulty to the work. You can also integrate a color or size sorting element to the work.

March Activities for Kids – Clover Lacing Card

Fun and festive addition to your shelves and a perfect next work once a child has mastered large string beading. Lacing Cards are an easy DIY like this DIY Clover Card. All you need is cardboard or cardstock cut out, paper hole punch, and yarn or a lacing.

March Themed Activity – Shamrock Math Numeration

Add this work to your bucket of March activities for kids! I created two Shamrock Math numeration and one to one correspondence works. One is a shamrock wheel with ten sections. Each section has a certain number of shamrocks. The child's job is to take mini clothespins or paperclips and match the number on the wedge the circle.

The next numeration work is a one to ten graph with and without shamrocks to help the child.

March Themed Activity – Rainbow Math Cards

Another March themed math activity to add to your bucket of March activities. I create cards with an outline of a pot. In each pot, I added a rainbow for each number through ten. The children get a tray with a cup of Rainbow Erasers and a stack of pots with various numbers of a rainbow on them. The child's job is to place the appropriate number of rainbow erasers onto the card.

March Themed Activity – Study the Harp

An original and maybe my favorite within my bag of March activities for preschoolers I purchased this adorable Mini Harp Replica last year to use in a St. Patrick's Day Preschool Circle. Children like this mini harp. The only issue I had with the children & the harp is that they desperately wanted the harp to play music. Alas, this mini harp didn't play music. I explained the parts of the harp. We also listened to the sound of the harp.

Hey, Carrots Are Orange readers. I am so happy to be able to share today with you while Marnie is busy moving her family to a new home. I have a St. Patrick's Day activity post for you today. I hope you can enjoy this clover lacing card as much as we have.

I am so excited to start working on St. Patrick's Day themed kid activities and crafts. I love holidays and St. Patrick's Day is next for us. I had put together a heart lacing card for my preschooler for Valentine's day and he enjoyed lacing it over and over. Since he enjoyed it so much I thought I would make him a new one for St. Patrick's Day.

DIY Clover Lacing Card for St. Patrick's Day

What better than to make him a clover/shamrock theme lacing card for this holiday? He can work on his fine motor skills while lacing it, and to him, it is just fun. We can also go over the color green and talk about the shape of a clover. My preschooler can have a little learning fun for the holidays with this DIY clover lacing card.

St. Patrick's Day Activity for Kids

What I did to make the clover lacing card: I googled clover templates and printed one off. You can just draw one but I am not that good. I traced the clover onto my green cardstock. Then I cut the clover out. I took the hole punch and went around the edged of the clover. Last I cut a piece of string for him to lace with. Super easy and simple to make the lacing card. I love simple.

Big brother was really excited to have a new lacing card and even more excited that we had another holiday coming up. I think he gets just as excited as I do about holidays. Now to see what else we will do to enjoy St. Patrick's Day over the next few weeks.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!

This post includes fun St. Patrick's Day Crafts for Kids. I received this great package of craft supplies from Craft Project Ideas filled with green goodness. As you know I have been a bit obsessed with exploring green. What can I say? I get inspired by the holidays and traditions. Honestly, I am not a super crafty person but I do try my best. So I took the lovely, soft emerald green pipe cleaners and the cute green pony beads and decided to make a St. Patrick's Day shamrock craft.

Invite your child over to the activity
Have them bead 3 pipe cleaners
Shape each beaded pipecleaner into a heart
“Tie” each heart shaped beaded pipecleaner with another pipecleaner by wrapping a pipecleaner around the center and then down to make a stem
Using Green Glitter Glue, glue to green card stock

I'm Irish so I am a bit biased BUT this holiday is fun, festive, and full of tradition. There is loads of learning to be had throughout March. We've had lots of fun over the years with celebrating St. Patrick's Day.

I love the holiday because it integrates so much learning. Plus, this holiday is near and dear to my heart given my heritage. Easy Kids Activity Learning about the Color Green

St. Patrick’s Day is a fun holiday to celebrate with kids. We integrate geography, history, culture, practical life, and sensorial work into our St. Patrick's Day activities. We even squeezed in an art project using only crayons with various shades of green. I will share these activities with you over the next few weeks.

First, we read this fantastic book appropriately called Green. When I saw the book at the library, it's vibrancy called to me. The colors within the books are beautiful and the illustrations tie the shades of green into a child’s environment. Here is the cover of the book. So lovely.

Once we read this book and had a nice conversation about the color green, I introduced a simple work to the boys. All you need is a basket, various green colored items to fill the basket and shades of green to match the objects. We used paint samples from the hardware store but you could also use crayons as another example. I love sensory basket isolating one color, like this one on our December shelves. We used FREE paint samples from our local hardware store. Montessori Print Shop has very inexpensive downloads to use for color tablet work that I highly recommend for this work.

Extend the activity into your home and community. (e.g. green leaves, green light, etc)

My son took this one beyond the basket into our home and our neighborhood. I loved this extension because it truly involves observation, which is so important for children, especially within the context of botany {e.g. leaves changing color} and zoology {e.g animals that adapt by changing color like chameleons and frogs}. The work really opened his eyes a bit more to the world of green. His desire to extend this activity reminded me of a post on identifying and matching colors by one of my favorite bloggers, Valerie at Inner Child Fun.
