I am a huge fan of integrating important concepts into everyday life and making them fun. So, today we had our inaugural Earth Day Themed Bath. The bath was a fun and relaxed way to begin the conversation about the importance of being environmentally responsible.
Earth Day Sensory Activity: The Bath
Here is a list of what we included:
- Bubbles
- Cups for pouring
- The Earth Ball by Planet Earth
- 11″ Earth Latex Balloons
- Green and Blue Glow Sticks
The bath was different and therefore very fun. The glow sticks turned out to be a surprising fine motor exercise. The “sticks” are actually “bracelets” that fit endlessly. Watching my son work patiently and so focused was a treat for me and my husband.
Earth Day is new to my son. So, figuring out where to start with such a big topic is tough. I began by simply talking about the day. My mistake was getting too detailed too quickly. I realized this much when I heard my husband talking with my son, explaining that “Earth Day means taking care of our things”.
That is precisely what it means – being responsible and respectful of ourselves, others, and our environment. We’ll get to the more tangible pieces of Earth Day soon enough.
Thank you for stopping by my blog! I hope we inspired you today!

*Please note that these balloons can get slippery. Best to limit the number and to, as usual, keep a close eye on your children in the bath. Also, a choking hazard exists when using balloons if not blown up or if you have remnants of a popped one.
