Community Helpers: Preschool Songs

This post may contain affiliate links. See my disclosure .

Add this list of preschool songs to your community helpers unit! Kids engage quickly and easily with songs. Plus, songs add so much richness to a child’s learning igniting a desire to want to learn more about a particular topic. Furthermore, music needs to be a part of a child’s learning & development.

In other words, music, whether singing or playing instruments or dancing, is far more than entertaining a child. For example, a child uses multiple senses, learns patterns, ignites storytelling, gets the body moving, and develops an understanding of rhythm.  Finally, at the end of the day singing and dancing just plain old fun and why not make learning fun?

Lyrics

Hi Teacher, Hi mailman, Hi doctor, Hi nurse
Hi Truck driver, Hi cashier it’s nice to see you again!

In my neighborhood
so many people take care of me
In my neighborhood
It’s like we’re family

Hi policeman, hi Dentist, Hi waiter, Hi Zookeeper,
Hi plumber, Hi coach, it’s nice to see you again!

In my neighborhood
so many people take care of me
In my neighborhood
It’s like we’re a family!

Bridge
And when I grow up, oh the thing I could be
So many jobs make me happy

All of us together like a family
makes a great community!

Hi Fireman, Hi soldier, Hi farmer, Hi bus driver,
Hi lifeguard, Hi builder it’s nice to see you again!
It’s nice to see you again!
It’s nice to see you again!

Occupations by the Learning Station

VERSE: I want to be a nurse, want to be a dancer, want to be an astronaut.
I want to be a doctor, a lawyer or maybe even president.

CHORUS: I can be anything, I want to be.

VERSE: I want to be a daddy, I want to be a teacher, I want to be a rock star.
I want to be a farmer, want to be a firefighter, want to drive a race car.

CHORUS: I can be anything, I want to be.
I want to be a mommy, want to drive a school bus, I want to be an actress.
I want to join the Army, I want to be a pilot, want to be an engineer.

CHORUS: I can be anything, I want to be. I can be anything, I want to be. I can be anything, I want to be. I can be anything, I want to be.

“But for now, I think I’ll just be myself.”
