Simple Activity Using Recycled Materials

On many mornings every week we make magic shakes in our home. We add things like flax seed, peanut butter, spinach, Greek yogurt and protein powder. Our boys love these shakes and so do we! A great way to start the day.

The other morning I finished our protein powder and as a result had a medium sized canister that I couldn’t get rid of (gasp!). We love coming up with simple activities, especially using recycled materials! Here is what we did with it. So easy I am actually a little embarrassed posting this activity but it is so effective at developing fine motor skills and at grabbing the attention of a toddler for long periods of time (trust me). So, I have to share with you.

Materials are simple: a can and buttons.

We love buttons.

They are colorful.

They are great for fine motor skill activities.

Simple Fine Motor Skills Recycled MaterialsI used an X-Acto knife to cut a slit in the cover.

Simple Fine Motor Skills Recycled MaterialsMy sons were content. The used up the buttons, dumped them out and did the activity all over again and again and again and…yup…again.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope that we inspired you today!
