Simple Fine Motor Activity Using Buttons

SHARE THIS POST:

On many mornings every week, we make magic shakes in our home. We add flax seed, peanut butter, spinach, Greek yogurt, and protein powder. Our boys love these shakes, and so do we! A great way to start the day.

The other morning I finished our protein powder and, as a result, had a medium-sized canister that I couldn’t get rid of (gasp!). We love coming up with simple activities, especially using recycled materials! Here is what we did with it.

So easy I am a little embarrassed posting this activity, but it is so effective at developing fine motor skills and grabbing a toddler’s attention for extended periods (trust me). So, I have to share it with you.

Simple Activity Using Recycled Materials

Materials are simple: a can and buttons.

We love buttons.

They are colorful.

They are great for fine motor skill activities.

I used an X-Acto knife to cut a slit on the cover.

Then I handed my sons a cup full of buttons. Always keep an eye on your little ones. If they are anything like my sons, these buttons may end up in mouths!

My sons were content. They used up the buttons, dumped them out, and did the activity repeatedly and again and…yup…again.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope that we inspired you today!
